Martin S. Gosnell, age 88, passed away Saturday, June 29, 2013 at his home on Shade Branch Road after a brief illness. He was a lifelong resident of Madison County and a member of the Middle Laurel Church of God which he was a lifelong member. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and great, great grandfather. He was an avid hunter and loved to work as long as his health permitted.
Mr. Gosnell was a son of the late Milburn and Annie Dudley Gosnell. He was also preceded in death by his beloved son, Leonard Carson Gosnell; three brothers, Clayton, Milburn Jr. and Leonard B. Gosnell and one sister, Anita Shelton.
Mr. Gosnell is survived by: wife of 67 years, Muncie G, Gosnell; daughter-in- law, Sonnie Gosnell; two grandsons and wives, Glenn Gosnell and Lisa and Chris Gosnell and Amanda; six great grandchildren, Amber (Randy), Colton (Felicia), Autumn and Holdon Gosnell of Greeneville, TN, Makayla and Hunter Gosnell of Marshall;
one great great grandson, Teegan Martin Jay Duncan and one step great, great grandson, Kobe Lane of Greeneville, TN; two brothers, Keith Gosnell of Marshall and Lewis Gosnell of Hot Springs; two sisters, Arlene Franklin of Marshall and Lucille Gahagan (Richard) of SC; several, and all of them being special, nieces and nephews; some very special friends, Jana and Claude Cantrell, Neaple Williams, Debra Legard and Barbara Franklin.
A memorial service for Mr. Gosnell will be at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday in the Chapel of Madison Funeral Home conducted by the Reverends Sam Adams and Steven "Petey" Lloyd. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. prior to the service. His cremains will be buried at a later date.
