MARSHALL - SPC Jason Carlisle Shelton, 22, of Marshall passed away Sunday, October 27, 2013 in Ansbach, Germany where he was stationed by the US Army in the 527th Military Police Company of the 709th Military Police Battalion.

Jason was born July 20, 1991 to Carson Shelton and Audrey Crum. He was a 2009 graduate of Madison High School and joined the US Army in January 2012. After basic training in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri Jason was stationed in Ansbach Germany. Jason married the love of his life, Heather Ball on May 25th, 2012. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. Jason was awarded the following medals: the Army Commendation Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism, the Army Service Ribbon, the Combat and Special Skill Badge, the Basic Marksmanship Qualification Badge for Rifle and the German Armed Forces Badge in Marksmanship.

Jason is survived by his wife, Heather Ball Shelton; father, Carson Shelton of Marshall and mother, Audrey Crum of Mars Hill; sisters, Stephanie Shelton (Mandy) of Fletcher and Carla Duncan (Danny) of Erwin, TN; brothers, Rusty and Nathaniel Beall of Mars Hill; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Gary and Vickie Ball and brother-in-law, Curtis Ball all of Marshall; maternal grandmother, Glenna Crum of Flag Pond, TN; nieces and nephews, Hunter, Madison and Hayden Duncan, Miken and Kenzie Shelton; numerous cousins and good friends.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, November 8, 2013 in the chapel of Madison Funeral Home with Reverends Craig Shelton and Anthony Fox officiating. Burial will follow in the B.E. Shelton Cemetery with full Military rites.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
