ENKA – Imogene Rice Lewis, 80, of Enka, went home to be with our Lord and Saviour on Sunday, October 5, 2014 at John F. Keever Solace Center.
Mrs. Lewis was born February 19, 1934 in Madison County. She resided in Enka for the past 54 years. Imogene was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Dora Franklin Rice; sister, Alene Cody; two brothers, Harmon and Rankin Rice.
Imogene was a lifelong member of Big Laurel Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Laurel High School and Blanton's Business College. Imogene was the Business Manager for Lewis Refrigeration Company and retired from Square D Company. Imogene loved the music her family plays and was a supportive musician's wife while her husband toured with "Bill Monroe and the Bluegrass Boys" in the 1970's. She was a songwriter for the band, "Sons of Ralph".
Imogene is survived by her husband, the love of her life, Ralph Lewis. They recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. She is also survived by two daughters: Welynn Lewis Allbach and husband, David, Sherry Lewis Morgan and husband, Shannon; two sons: Marty and Don Lewis; four grandchildren: Laurie Allbach Williams and husband, Corey, Jonathan Allbach and his wife, Jamie, Amanda Morgan Bacon and her husband, Justin and Patric Morgan; five great-grandchildren: Creighton Lewis Williams, Carleigh Wisch Williams, Zoe Grace Bacon, Charle Jane Bacon and Zora Jane Allbach; two sisters: Glennis Rice Ponder and her husband, Tony, Locella Rice Velthouse and her husband, Larry; one brother, Earl Rice and his wife, Dianne; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, October 10, 2014 at Big Laurel Baptist Church with Pastors Rob Blackburn and Luke Lingle officiating. Burial will follow in the Lewis Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 – 9 p.m. Thursday, October 9, 2014 at Madison Funeral Home.
