A native of Enterprise, Alabama, she and her family moved to Tallahassee from Slocomb, Alabama 50 years ago. She was retired from the Leon County School Board after 23 years of service at Godby High School.

Mrs. Cox is survived by three sons, David Cox (Mary), Bobby Cox (Dinah) and Levon Cox; a daughter-in-law, Bonnie Cox; six grandchildren, Darin Cox, Brian Cox, Brad Cox, Danny Cox, Ginger Crego and Demi Baxley; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bud Cox, and two of her sons, Roger and Joe Cox.
