He was born on February 22, 1928 and raised in Dodgeville, Wisconsin. After serving his country in the Navy during WWII, he attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison and earned a PhD in Science Education. He had a long and successful career as the Science Supervisor for the state of Wisconsin where he also served as president of the Wisconsin Acadamy of Arts and Sciences, Wisconsin Society of Science Teachers, National Alliance for Enviromental Education, and National Council of State Science Supervisors. In retirement Ken continued his work as an educational consultant as well as his involvement in the arts and sciences and served as president of the FSU Senior Academy.

Ken is survived by his wife, Ginger; his brother, Don Dowling(Rose); sister, Betty Grosskopf(Harry); eight children; and five grandchildren.

Ken was preceded in death by his furry friend and companion, Bertie.

A private family memorial service was held.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Big Bend Hospice at 1723 Mahan Center Blvd. Tallahassee, FL 32308.
