Mr. Deng was born August 9, 1921, in Chengdu, China. He graduated from Wuhan University in China and earned a Master's degree in Civil Engineering from Iowa State University. He taught as a high school math teacher in China and was a part of the engineering team that built the Garden State Parkway. For over thirty years until his retirement, he dedicated himself to making innovative contributions to the Chinese enviromental protection industry. Throughout his entire life, he maintained an avid interest in learning new technologies.
He was lovingly married for 52 years to Huanming Chang, who preceded him in death in 2006. He is survived by a daughter and her husband, Greta and Peter Lin; a son and his wife, Guolin and Xinwei Deng; three grandchildren, Linda; Farrah; and Kevin; a companion and her son, Ruby and Christopher Roe; and Christopher's wife and son, Renee and Ian Roe.
