A native of Brooklyn, New York and a longtime resident of Miami, Mr. Cohen moved to Tallahassee after spending several years in Arizona, following his retirement. He was a graduate of City College of New York and founded Rachlin & Cohen, CPA's in South Miami, which grew to be Florida's largest independent accounting firm.
Mr. Cohen was a highly decorated Army veteran of World War II, having landed on the beaches of Normandy on D-day, plus one. He was the receipient of the Purple Heart, and for his service, he was honored by the French government with the Legion of Honor. He was also a member of Shomrei Torah Congregation in Tallahassee.
He is survived by his wife Sonia Cohen of Tallahassee; one son Dr. Matt Cohen (Leslie) of Tallahassee; three daughters Debbie Frank (Barry) of Miami, Cara Pasquale (Joseph) of Cooper City and Jana Iris Barbe (Roy) of Chicago; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
