Shelby Junior Tate, age 72 of Lebanon, passed away Saturday, October 26, 2013 at the University of Louisville Hospital. He was born June 15, 1941 to Mary Lucy Wilkerson of Hodgenville and the late Shelby Raymond Tate. Besides his father, he was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Treadway Tate; one brother, Samuel Estel Tate; and two sisters, Thelma Sue Adkins and Florence Ann Tate.
Besides his mother, he is survived by three sons, Melvin Wayne Treadway, Shelby Eugene Tate, and Buddy Tate Jr. all of Lebanon; two daughters, Pamela Ballard of Bardstown and Brenda Bullock of Brodhead; five brothers, Johnny (Eda) Tate, Billy (Louise) Tate, Ricky (Marlene) Tate all of Lebanon, Otho (Mary) Tate of Washington County, and Herman Tate of Hodgenville; seven sisters, Dorothy (Larry) Reardon, and Virginia (Hucky) Hardin both of Lebanon, Mary Lee Reardon of Springfield, Rita (James) Tungate of Campbellsville, Mary Thelma (Ricky) Curtsinger of Hodgenville, and Jane (Jim) Bauer and Catherine (Henry) Hogue both of Mt. Washington; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren also survive along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Shelby Junior Tate will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at the Campbell-DeWitt Funeral Home with burial in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
Family requests visitation after 10 AM on Wednesday at the funeral home.
