Geneva Mae Rakes was a beloved Christian mother retired from ILGWU as a seamstress. She loved her family and friends, but she loved the Lord most of all. She walked the Christian walk daily. When the church doors opened, she busted through them to worship God. She was a member of Bradfordsville United Methodist Church. Throughout the years, she taught Sunday School, was a member of the United Methodist Women's Club, fed every preacher that pastored the church, took care of the janitorial duties for years and was a substitute pianist.

She treated everyone the same. Color, socioeconomic status didn't concern her as she befriended those she met. Unconditional love and a forgiving heart were just two of her most admirable traits. Her life reflected the bible verse: "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you". She fed the hungry, gave gifts to the needy children and invited lonely people into her home. She was a class act heroic woman and an overcomer.

She will be missed tremendously by her children, grandchildren, other family members and friends. Thej life she lived will forever have an impact on people as a result of her Christ like role model.
