Sgt. Ryan Jay Montgomery

Sgt. Ryan Jay Montgomery, the son of Raymond Jay Montgomery of Greensburg and Patricia Cheryl Thompson Montgomery of Campbellsville, was born Friday, January 28, 1983 in Louisville and departed this life serving his Country on Sunday, July 3, 2005 in Iraq near Baghdad. He was 22 years, 5 months and 5 days of age.

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Mt. Gilead Baptist Church. He was a member of the Green County Fire and Rescue and the Emmaus in Campbellsville and was serving with the Kentucky National Guard 623rd Field Artillery.

Besides his parents he is survived by his step-mother: Sharon Lee Montgomery of Greensburg; his brother and sister: Specialist Bryan Ray Montgomery and Ashley Nichole Montgomery, both of Campbellsville; a Step-Brother: Grant Riggs of Indiana; his Fiancee’: Jenny Whitlow of Munfordville; his grandparents: William Ottis Montgomery, Sr. of Brandenburg and Edna Foley of Campbellsville; his step-grandparents: Marietta Montgomery of Brandenburg and Norman Skaggs of Greensburg; several Aunts, Uncles, and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by two grandparents: Stella Beatrice Skaggs and Glen Davis “Buddy” Thompson.

The funeral services for Sgt. Ryan Jay Montgomery will be conducted Tuesday, July 12, 2005 at 11 AM in the Gymnasium of the Green County Middle School in Greensburg with burial to follow in the Montgomery Cemetery with Military Honors

Bro. James Walker and Col. Dill, Chaplain will be officiating the funeral service.

Expressions of sympathy are suggested to the Green County High School Class of 2001 Memorial Fund and can be made anytime at the funeral home or at the middle school on Tuesday.
