Mr. Orval Wayne Jeffries of Greensburg, Kentucky, son of the late George Jeffries and Tura Davis Jeffries, was born on November 5, 1926 in Green County, and departed this life on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at his home. He was 87 years, eight months, and 18 days of age.
He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Oak Grove Separate Baptist Church and was a lifelong farmer. He was a Veteran of WWII having served in the United States Marine Corps.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Jessie Arlene Bishop Jeffries of Greensburg, having united in marriage on July 21, 1945.
Other survivors include a daughter and son-in-law: Joni and Dan Thiron of Greensburg; a granddaughter: Melissa Bonta of Greensburg; a step-grandson: Michael Thiron of Campbellsville; a brother: Elmo Jeffries of Shepherdsville; and a host of other relatives and many friends.
Mr. Jeffries was also preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters: Leonard Jeffries, Ralph Jeffries, Curtis Jeffries, Kenneth Jeffries, Alma Moran, Sybil Pepper, and Marcella Moran.
The funeral services for Mr. Orval Wayne Jeffries will be conducted at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, July 26, 2014 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Bro. Carlos Compton and Bro. Ricky Arnett will be officiating.
Visitation is requested from 5 until 8 P.M., Friday at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home and after 7 A.M., Saturday until time of the funeral service.
Memorials are suggested to the Oak Grove Cemetery, which can be made at the funeral home.
