Nannie Ruth Mays Carroll of Pineville, Kentucky departed this life on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at her home. She was 95 years, 8 months, and 24 days of age. She was born on April 24, 1916 in Whitley County, Kentucky to the late, William Calvin Hill and Mary Alice Wyatt. She is also preceded in death by husbands, Elmer Mays and Rice Carroll; one son, Benny Allen Mays; and one daughter, Flora Anita Mays. She was a member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church of the Buckeye Community.

She is survived by five daughters, Sonia Kelley of Saluda, South Carolina, Virginia Powell and husband G.W. of Jacksonville, Florida, Ruby North of Saluda, South Carolina, Judy Goff Cameron and husband Bill of Abbeville, South Carolina, and Shirley Peace and husband Marshall of Pineville, Kentucky; four sons, Leroy Mays and wife Nannie of Lake City, Tennessee, Frankie Mays and wife Joyce and Freddie Mays and wife Debbie, all of Pineville, Kentucky, and Tommy Ray Mays of Barbourville, Kentucky; 9 grandsons, 11 granddaughters, 33 great grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren; one stepson, Billy Ray Carroll and wife Jewell of Harrogate, Tennessee; step grandchildren, Terry Carroll and wife Jennifer, and Mike Carroll and wife Janet; and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.

Visitation will be after 4:00 P.M. Thursday, January 19, 2012 at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral Services will be at 1:00 P.M., Friday, January 20, 2012 at the Ebenezer Baptist Church in the Buckeye Community. She will be laid to rest in the Mossy Gap Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Terry Kelley, Joseph Elmer, Danny Richard, Dicky Miracle, Kenny Mays, Frankie Mays, Jr., Tommy Mays Jr., Justin Mays, Benny Mays, and Brian Mays. Honorary Pallbearer will be David Boyd.
