Nonia “Sue” Bird of Williamsburg, Kentucky departed this life on Thursday, January 26, 2012 at the Jellico Community Hospital in Jellico, Tennessee. She was 79 years, 4 months and 9 days of age. She was born on September 17, 1932 in Lee County, Virginia to the late, Anderson Kersey and Elizabeth (Barbour) Kersey. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Tom Bird.
She is survived by her two sons, Tommy Bird and his wife Delores and Doyle Bird and his wife Linda, all of Williamsburg, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Tasha Hubbs of Corbin, Kentucky, Travis Bird, Aaron Bird and Jerrad Bird, all of Williamsburg, Kentucky; one great grandson, Tyler Hubbs of Corbin, Kentucky; one step-great grandson, Jonathan Hubbs of Corbin, Kentucky; three sisters, Dora Williams of Richwood, Kentucky, Lena Siler of Corbin, Kentucky and Eula Scalf of Lexington, Kentucky; one brother, Kyle Kersey of Corbin, Kentucky; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
Visitation will be after 6 P.M. Saturday, January 28, 2012 at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral Services will be at 3:30 P.M. Sunday, January 29, 2012 at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Doyle Lester and Rev. Paul Ellis officiating. She will be laid to rest in the New Zion Cemetery in Williamsburg. Her nephews will serve as pallbearers.
