“Dee” Arnold Askins of Piney Grove Community, Williamsburg, Kentucky departed this life on June 22, 2012 at his home. He was 86 years of age. He was born June 22, 1926 in Whitley County, Kentucky to the Late Delbert Askins and Mary Davis Askins. He was also preceded in death by 2 sons, Oscar Lee Askins and Jeffery Ora Askins. He was a veteran of WWII and the Korea Conflict serving in the U.S. Army. He was a member and Deacon of the Pleasant Hill Church of God for over 40 years.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Bell Meadors Askins of Williamsburg, Ky.; 2 daughters, Audrey Elaine Mays (William) and Debra Kay Ellis both of Williamsburg, Ky.; 3 sons, Arnold Wayne Askins (Patsy), Raymond Earl Askins (Sonya) both of Williamsburg, Ky. and Garry Allen Askins (Jill) of Corbin, Ky.; 17 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Visitation will be after 4 PM Saturday, June 23, 2012 at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral will be at 1 PM Sunday, June 24, 2012 at the Pleasant Hill Church of God.
He will lie in state at the church from 11 AM until the funeral hour at 1 PM.
American Legion Post 88 of Corbin, Ky. will conduct military graveside services.
