Minnie Edna Carter of the Maple Creek Community, Williamsburg, Kentucky departed this life on Sunday, September 29, 2013 at her home. She was 90 years, 9 months, and 4 days of age. She was born on December 25, 1922 in Tazewell, Tennessee to the late Henry J. Widener and Lucinda Cline Widener. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Leslie Carter; two sons, Randall and Leslie Thomas "Tommy" Carter Jr.; a daughter, Carol Carter; six brothers and four sisters; and a great grandson, Dustin Johnson. She was of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by her four daughters, Betty Hill (Jimmy) of Williamsburg, Kentucky, Clara Wynn of Dayton, Kentucky, Linda Gaines (Larry) of Hamilton, Ohio and Cathy Faulkner of Corbin, Kentucky; one son, Johnny Lee Carter of Burlington, Kentucky; 20 grandchildren; 54 great grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; one brother, Corum Widener of Dayton, Kentucky; one sister, Mary Widener of Cincinnati, Ohio; and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. until the funeral hour on Thursday, October 3, 2013 at Croley Funeral Home.
The Funeral Service will be at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, October 3, 2013 at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Sowders and Rev. Larry Gaines officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Wells Cemetery on Indian Creek. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
