Mary Bell Askins, age 80, of Highway 1481, Williamsburg, Kentucky departed this life on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at her home. She was born on June 9, 1934 in Williamsburg, Kentucky to the late Clyde Meadors and Artie (Sullivan) Meadors. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Dee Arnold Askins and two sons, Oscar Lee Askins and Jefferie Ora Askins. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Church of God.
She is survived by her two daughters, Audrey Elaine Mays (William) of Williamsburg, Kentucky and Debra Kay Ridner (Mike) of McCreary County, Kentucky; three sons, Arnold Wayne Askins (Patsy) and Raymond Earl Askins (Sonya), all of Williamsburg, Kentucky and Gary Allen Askins (Jill) of Corbin, Kentucky; 17 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; one brother, Kelly Meadors (Jean) of Williamsburg, Kentucky; two sisters, Eletta Vanover and Marcella Meadors (Clyde E.), all of Williamsburg, Kentucky; many nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends to mourn her passing.
Visitation will be after 5:00 P.M. Friday, September 19, 2014 at Croley Funeral Home.
Mrs. Askins will Lie-in-State at 12 Noon until the funeral hour on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at Pleasant Hill Church of God.
The Funeral Service will be at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, September 20, 2014 at Pleasant Hill Church of God with Rev. Dorman Patrick and Rev. Roger Meadors officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Pleasant Hill Church of God Cemetery. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
