Alma Jean Centers age 85, of Foley Bend Road, Williamsburg, Kentucky departed this life on Saturday, December 12, 2015 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky. She was born on August 26, 1930 in Barbourville, Kentucky to the late Clearance Mays and Mary Lawson Mays. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Roger Carpenter and Denver Carpenter. Alma was a member of Mt. Ash Baptist Church for over 40 years.

She is survived by her daughter, Sulia Douglas (Willard) of Williamsburg, Kentucky; three sons, Rev. Billy Carpenter (Darlene), Bobby Carpenter (Barbara) and Darrell Carpenter (Cathy) all of Williamsburg, Kentucky; eight grandchildren, Billie Jean Satterfield, Joseph Carpenter, Jason Douglas, Jacob Carpenter, Heather Carpenter, Sarah Beth Lanham, Jessica Mays and Allison Nicholson; eleven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mill Slavey of Barbourville, Kentucky and Jude Fugate of Danville, Kentucky; three brothers, Carl Mays of Barbourville, Kentucky, Johnny Mays of Beaver Dam, Kentucky and Paul Mays of Barbourville, Kentucky; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends to mourn her passing.

Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until the funeral hour on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at Mt. Ash Baptist Church.

The Funeral Service will be at 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at the Mt. Ash Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Carpenter and Rev. Jerome McCullah officiating. She will be laid to rest following a Graveside Service at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at the Carpenter Family Cemetery.
