Elbert Sumner, age 83, of Garrett, Indiana, formerly of Perry County, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at Parkview North Hospital in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. He was born in Hazard, Kentucky on April 12, 1927 to Norman and Carrie Combs Sumner. He is survived by his wife: Beulah Combs Sumner; sons: Michael Sumner, Johnny (Lisa) Sumner and Elbert Sumner Jr.; daughter: Carrie Sumner; grandson: Johnny Sumner Jr.; brothers: Denver Sumner and Coby Sumner; sisters: Letha Butler, Phobie Maggard and Maxine Hutchingson. He was preceded in death by parents; brothers: Eli, John M. and Ova Sumner; sisters: Percy Bowling and Peggy McCray. Funeral services will be 1PM, Sunday, July 11, 2010 at the Hindman Funeral Services Chapel with Darrell Short officiating. Burial will follow at the Sumner Cemetery at Vicco, Kentucky. Friends may call for visitation at the chapel, Saturday from 5-9PM.
