Mrs. Mattie Marie Hasty, age 84 of Brodhead, Kentucky passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2011 at the Rockcastle Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Mattie entered into this life on January 17, 1927 in Brodhead, Kentucky the daughter of Charlie Thomas and Elizabeth Lear Spoonamore, both of whom preceded her in death. She was a farmer and a homemaker and spent her days loving and caring for her family. She was united in marriage to James Herman Hasty in August of 1954 and they shared a wonderful life together. Mattie attended the Union Chapel Pentecostal Church; and will be remembered for her love of farming, painting, flower gardens and scrapbooking.

Mattie will be lovingly remembered by her four children: Perry Dean Baker and his wife Rosaline of Brodhead, Kentucky, Alberta Boggs and her husband Ernie of Brodhead, Kentucky, Dale Ann Miller and her husband James R. of Brodhead, Kentucky, and Jerry Hasty and his wife Tina of Brodhead, Kentucky; six grandchildren: Carla Creech, Toni Baker, Chris Baker, Danielle Sowder Barron, Joshua Sowder, and James Garrett Hasty; eight great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors.

She is preceded in death by her parents: Charlie Thomas and Elizabeth Lear Spoonamore; her husband: James Herman Hasty; two brothers: Victor and Charlie Spoonamore; and five sisters: Susie Sowder, Lula Reynolds, Ruth Sargent, Lillie and Betty Spoonamore.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mattie Marie Hasty will be conducted on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at 2pm at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals with Bros. Eddie Nation and Luther Allen officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery.

Visitation for Mrs. Mattie Marie Hasty will be held on Tuesday, May 17, 2011 from 6-9pm at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Gideonís or the American Cancer Society.
