Mrs. Charlotte Kay “Miss Kay” Parrett Singleton, age 69, of Mt. Vernon, Kentucky passed away on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at the Rockcastle Regional Hospital.
Kay entered into this life on July 31, 1941 in Mt. Vernon, Kentucky the daughter of Hobert Sr. and Margaret Nancy McHargue Parrett, both of whom preceded her in death. She worked as a Nurse’s Assistant and an Instructional Assistant for 35 years at Mt. Vernon Elementary School and the Rockcastle County School System. Kay was united in marriage on July 27, 1963 to Phillip D. Singleton and they shared 47 wonderful years together. Kay was a member of First Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon and will be remembered for her love of antiquing, and southern gospel, but most of all for the love she had for her grandchildren.
Kay will be lovingly remembered by her husband: Phillip D. Singleton of Mt. Vernon, Kentucky; two children: Derrick Singleton and his wife Kimberly of Mt. Vernon, Kentucky and Dana Kay Hamilton and her husband James “Sam” of Mt. Vernon, Kentucky; four grandchildren: Evan, Julianna, Jayna and Isabella Singleton; one step granddaughter: Samantha Hamilton; two sisters: Alice Harrison and her husband Dennis of Eaton, Ohio and Shirley Boyd and her husband Josh of Plano, Texas; seven nephews: Steve, Mike and Darrin Singleton, Tim, Mike and Shane Harrison, Mark Boyd,; three nieces: Lesha Singleton Cromer, Karen Hollon and Kim Boyd; and a host of friends and neighbors.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Hobert Sr. and Margaret Nancy McHargue Parrett; and her brother: Hobert Parrett, Jr.
Funeral services for Kay Singleton will be conducted on Saturday, June 4, 2011 at 2pm at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals with Bros. Lester Caldwell and Luther Allen officiating. Interment will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery.
Visitation for Kay Singleton will be held on Friday, June 3, 2011 at First Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon from 6-9pm.
