Mrs. Mae Etta Benge VanHook, age 72, of Eubank, Kentucky; wife of Don, passed away Monday, January 2nd, 2012 at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, Kentucky.

Mae Etta was born on December 6th, 1939 in Negro Creek, Kentucky; a daughter of the late Syrus Casper Benge and Dessie Mae Brown Benge. On February 9th, 1957 she was united in marriage to Don VanHook. She enjoyed being with family and friends, canning, gardening and her flowers. She was a part of the Church of God.

Mae Etta is lovingly remembered by her husband of 54 years: Don VanHook of Eubank, KY; two sons: Donnie VanHook (Vicky) of Stanford, KY and Gary VanHook (Judy) of Somerset, KY; two daughters: Annette VanHook (Chris) of Harrodsburg, KY and Amy Cole (Doug) of Lexington, KY; three brothers: Reggie Benge (Phyllis) of Mt. Vernon, KY, Roger Benge of Nicholasville, KY and Tim Benge of Brodhead, KY; four sisters: Janie Robbins (Chester) of Brodhead, KY, Rita Brumett (Jim) of Gray Hawk, KY, Kathy Denney (Jerry) of Brodhead, KY and Vicki Benge of Brodhead, KY; two aunts: Mary Laswell of Brodhead, KY and Mable Helton of Bryantsville, KY; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.

Besides her parents, Mae Etta is preceded in death by: one daughter: Trudy Benge Todd and one sister: June Faye Benge.

Visitation for Mrs. Mae Etta Benge VanHook will be Wednesday, January 4th, 2012 from 6 - 9 P.M. at the Poplar Grove Baptist Church.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mae Etta Benge VanHook will be conducted on Thursday, January 5th, 2012 at 11 A.M. at the Poplar Grove Baptist Church with Bros. Rick Reynolds and Bradley Goforth officiating. Burial will follow in the Poplar Grove Cemetery. Casket Bearers will be: Jerry Denney, Jim VanHook, Perry VanHook, Kevin Measel, Mark Hamm and Chad Caldwell.
