Mrs. Mildred Jean Hoskins, age 72, widow of Doug, of Brodhead, Kentucky passed away on Thursday, May 24, 2012 at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond.
Jean entered into this life on September 15, 1939, in Brodhead, Kentucky, the daughter of James Washington and Mealey Ellen Brock Smith, both of whom preceded her in death. Jean was united in marriage to William Douglas Hoskins on September 8, 1957, and to this union came four children to richly bless their home. She was a homemaker, spending her days loving and caring for her family and was a member of the Ottawa Baptist Church. Jean will be remembered for her love of flowers, and embroidery, but most of all, for the love she had for her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren.
Jean will be lovingly remembered by her children: Terry Hoskins of Brodhead, Kentucky, Jimmy Hoskins and his wife Priscilla of Berea, Kentucky, Kathy Wright and her husband Wayne of Mt. Vernon, Kentucky and Janice Adams and her husband Dwain of Brodhead, Kentucky; six grandchildren: Emily Wright McClure and her husband Matt, Jessi Kidwell, Heather Adams McGuire and her husband Chris, Amanda Wright, Rachel Wright and her husband Jesse and Brittany Adams; six great-grandchildren: Kaylee and Carlee Cameron, Kelsey Rowe, Lauren McClure, Titus McGuire and Bryson Miller; one sister: Evelyn Powers of Berea, Kentucky; a special friend: Joyce Leece and a host of friends and neighbors.
She is preceded in death by her parents: James Washington and Mealey Ellen Brock Smith; two sisters: Bernice Williams and S.J. Thompson and three brothers: Earl, Luther and Owen Smith.
Funeral services for Mrs. Mildred Jean Hoskins will be conducted on Monday, May 28, 2012 at 11am at the Ottawa Baptist Church with Bros. Shelby Reynolds and Randal Adams officiating. Interment will follow in the Ottawa Cemetery.
Visitation for Mrs. Mildred Jean Hoskins will be held on Sunday, May 27, 2012 from 5-9pm at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals.
Casket bearers will be: Jerry Brown, Larry Smith, Mike Powers, Steve Powers, B.J. Thomason and Jeff Smithern. Honorary casket bearers will be: Emily McClure, Jessi Kidwell, Heather McGuire, Amanda Wright, Rachel Wright, Brittany Adams, Kaylee Cameron, Carlee Cameron, Kelsey Rowe, Lauren McClure, Titus McGuire and Bryson Miller.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Jean may be made to the Ottawa Cemetery or to Hospice of the Bluegrass.
