Sarah Frances Loving Ashby, 77, died Thursday, September 1, 2005 at Hillcreek Manor in Louisville following a long illness. She was a native of Shelbyville and the daughter of the late Winfred M. and Georgia L. Russell Loving. She worked for many years as a dietician at both the former Shelby Manor Health Care Center and Whitney M. Young Job Corps Center. She was a long-time, devoted member of the Clay Street Missionary Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, three brothers, George R. Loving, James Edward “Peter” Loving and Otto L. Loving and one sister, Mildred Jones, preceded her in death.
Survivors include one daughter, Shirley Kirtley of Louisville; one son, William Thomas Carr of Louisville; six sisters, Hattie Payne, Laura Moorman and Beatrice Bray, all of Shelbyville, Virginia Overall of Simpsonville, Mattie Purdy of Urbana, IL and Nadirah Nu’Man of LaGrange; four brothers, Winfred M. Loving, Jr., Russell Loving, Sr. and Walter Scott Loving, all of Shelbyville and Jonas Loving of Louisville; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Rev. Ronald L. Holder will deliver the eulogy at the funeral services on Sunday.
