David Lincoln Stone, 89, Finchville, died Friday, September 9, 2005 at the Hospice In-Patient Care Unit at Norton Pavilion following an illness. He was a native of Shelby County and the son of the late Robert Homer and Mary Allen Stone.
In 1933, he married Lucille Gilbert Stone, who preceded him in death in April 2000. Six children were born to this union, Robert Lincoln Stone, Joann Yarbrough, Elsie Mae Stone, Barbara Bell, David Nelson Stone and Carl A. Stone.
He was a farmer throughout his lifetime. He enjoyed gardening and all outdoor activities. He was a member of the Allen Chapel United Methodist Church of Buck Creek and a former member of Elk Creek Missionary Baptist Church. One daughter, Elsie Mae Stone, two sons, Robert Lincoln Stone and David Nelson Stone, one stepdaughter, Goldie S. Barbour, one sister and three brothers preceded him in death.
Survivors include two daughters, Joann Yarbrough of St. Paul, MN and Barbara Bell of Louisville; one son, Carl A. (Debra) Stone of Louisville, KY; one sister, Lavania Murray of St. Paul, MN; 22 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Rev. Robert M. Marshall, Sr. will deliver the eulogy at the funeral services on Wednesday.
