George Stone, Jr., 74, Shelbyville, passed away Wednesday, September 6, 2006 at Jewish Hospital Shelbyville. A native of Shelby County, he was the son of the late Genevieve and George Stone, Sr. He attended Lincoln Institute and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Following his military service, he became a truck driver for Lexington Rock Quarry. Following his retirement from active truck driving, he drove limousines for Ethington Autos. In his leisure time, he enjoyed fishing. He was a member of the New Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, one daughter, Bessie Lorraine Martin, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Bessie Stone of Shelbyville; three daughters, Dorothy Mae Stone and Brenda Chambers, both of Louisville and Sherry L. Bell of Hemet, CA; one son, William Rodney Stone of Shelbyville; 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Rev. Kilen Gray will deliver the eulogy at the funeral services on Sunday.

We will gather at Lebanon National Cemetery on Monday at 11 a.m. for the burial with full military honors.
