Arthur B. “Pedro” “Knotty” Jackson, Sr., 84, Louisville, formerly of Shelbyville, passed away Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at Baptist Hospital East following an illness. A native of Shelbyville, he was the son of the late Alonzo and Emma Wilson Jackson. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army. He was a truck driver for Webb Transfer Line for many years, a waiter at both the Old Stone Inn and Science Hill Inn and worked at Fisher Packing Company for 17 years prior to his retirement. He was a member and former chairman of The Hornet Club, and, in his leisure time, he enjoyed golf and playing cards. He was a member of the St. John United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, two wives, Augusta “Gus” Brown Jackson and Dorothy Higgins Jackson; two sisters, Bernice Mickey and Evelyn Wilson and four brothers, Alonzo Jackson, Preston Jackson, Pete Henry and Charles Jackson, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Pauline Sheckles Jackson; eight daughters, Virginia Jackson, Beverly Jackson, Alisa Jackson, Debbie Reed, Pamela Davis, Charlene Stone, Mordena Campbell and Debbie Haliburton; seven sons, Ronald Jackson, Arthur Jackson, Jr., Anthony Jackson, Max Jackson, Byron Jackson, Eric Jackson and Marcus Robinson; two sisters, Mary Katherine Alexander and Margaret Mack; 25 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, September 19, 2011 at Shelby Christian Church, 2375 Frankfort Road in Shelbyville. Visitation is 6-9 p.m. Sunday at Webb Funeral Home. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Shelbyville.
