William V. "Bill" Madigan, 63, Shelbyville, died Friday, February 13, at Jewish Hospital, Louisville. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anna (Corrado) Madigan and William A. Madigan. Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou (Smith) Madigan, his daughter and son-in-law Lucy and Dale Armistead, and five grandchildren, Gabby, Kyler, David, Lainey, and Declan Armistead.
A native of Brooklyn, New York, Bill taught school in Maryland and Kentucky. He was later employed at Kentucky Department of Parks and Department of Revenue. In 1974, he became a Kentucky Colonel. Retiring from Revenue, he found a second career in sales at Radio Shack.
In retirement, Bill was chairman of the Code Enforcement Board of the City of Shelbyville, served on the Board of Directors of the Shelby County Red Cross, and served as an advisor to Kentucky Adoption Services.
He was a member of the Catholic Church and also attended Centenary United Methodist Church. Visitation will be on Monday, February 16, from 4-9 P.M. at the Shannon Funeral Home; the funeral will be on Tuesday, February 17, at 10:30 A.M. at the Catholic Church of the Annunciation, Shelbyville.
