Herschel Taylor Downing, 86, died Sunday, April 17, 2011 in Waddy. He was a retired mail carrier with the United States Postal Service, an Army veteran, and a member of the Word of Life United Pentecostal Church in Shelbyville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Eda Downing. He is survived by his son, David Downing (Linda) of Waddy; and 4 grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, and 3 step great grandchildren.

Funeral: 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Shannon Funeral Home with Bro. Leon Gill officiating. Visitation: 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial: Grove Hill Cemetery.
