Elbert Cordell "Cordy" Armstrong, age 79, died Monday, July 25, 2011 at his residence surrounded by his loving family in Cropper.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, a Magistrate for 25 1/2 years, served as a deputy sheriff for 4 years, lifelong Shelby County farmer, member of the Cropper Ruritan Club, member of the United states Trotting Association, former member of the Kentucky Magistrates Association, and a United States Army Veteran.
He is survived by, Joetta Armstrong of Shelbyville; 3 sons, Mike (Audrey) Armstrong of Shelbyville, Kevin (Vicky) Armstrong of Cropper, and Jason (Trista) Armstrong of Cropper; 2 brothers, Rollie Armstrong of Elmburg and Murray (Sue) Armstrong of Defoe; sister, Dorothy (Charles) Long of Cropper; and 7 grandchildren, Miranda, Kelli, Jordan, Samantha, Caitlin, Cameron, and Christopher.
Funeral services are 2 p.m. Friday, July 29 at the Shannon Funeral Home. Visitation is 1 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 11 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Bagdad Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Hosparus, American Cancer Society, or the Cropper Baptist Church.
