Rebecca Hammond White, 77, died Tuesday, August 30, 2011 in Taylorsville. She was a native of Shelby County and had been employed as a switchboard operator for the Commonwealth of Kentucky. She was a member of the Rockbridge United Methodist Church and formerly had attended the Salem Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, J. L. Hammond and Lillie Pearl Spaulding Hammond. She is survived by her daughter, Marilyn White of Shelbyville; her son, Ricky White (Debbie) of Shelby County; her grandchildren, Joseph White of Henry County and Jessey White of Norfolk, VA; her great grandchild, Sophia White of Norfolk, VA; and her sisters, Helen Searcy of Waddy and Mary Hazlerigs of Loganville, GA.

The funeral will be 2:00 p.m. Friday graveside at the Grove Hill Cemetery with Bro. Roy Temple, Jr. and Bro. Leslie Bentley officiating. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the Shannon Funeral Home. Burial: Grove Hill Cemetery.
