James T. Monroe, 79, of Shelbyville, died Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at Jewish Hospital in Shelbyville.

He was preceded in death by his son, James E. Monroe.

He is survived by his wife, Martha Barnett Monroe; children, Thomas J. Monroe, William Dale Monroe, Doris Monroe, John F. Monroe; two stepdaughters; 10 grandchildren; 6 step grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; 8 step grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 12 noon Monday, July 23, 2012 at the Shannon Funeral Home. Visitation is 10 a.m. till time of service.
