John C. Davis was born January 31, 1955 to the union of the late Clarence and Katie Murphy Davis in Finchville, Ky. He was called to the home of his Heavenly Father on Friday morning, August 10, 2012 at the Jewish Hospital in Shelbyville after a long and gruesome illness.
John completed his high school education in the Shelby County School System where he was a member of the Life Singers. Prior to pursuing a profession in equestrianism; he was an employee of William R. Conley Racing Stables at Turfway Race Track in Florence, Kentucky until failing health forced him to return to Shelby County and his loving family until his demise.
John gave his life to our Lord and Saviour at an early age and recently re-dedicated his faith.
John was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Gladys Spurlock and Sarah "Lill" Cochran and two brothers, Joseph Stewart and Clarence "Butch" Davis.
He leaves to mourn his passing, two devoted sisters, Bessie Davis, Bagdad; Ruth Lewis, Shelbyville; three brothers, Omer (Rene), Cincinnati; Wilbur (Florence), Bagdad; Bobby (Darlene), Shelbyville; two sisters in law, Barbara Stewart and Kathy Davis; brother in law, Frederick Spurlock, Cincinnati; three aunts, Onnie Davis, Virginia Beckham both of Louisville and Mary Margaret Davis, New Castle; two uncles, Will Murphy, Jr., Finchville and Clark Murphy, Louisville; a host of nieces and nephews, co-workers, friends and relatives. Yes, John is gone but he will never be forgotten.
Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Monday, August 13, 2012 at the Shannon Funeral Home with Rev. John Goodman, Rev. Robert Marshall and Jimmie Eades officiating. Visitation will be 2-6 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
