Carl S. Laytart, age 88, husband of Geneva King Laytart, passed away on Sat. June 19, 2010 at Thomson Hood V.A. Center in Wilmore, KY. He was born to the late Chester and Minnie Tolle Laytart in Cynthiana, KY on April 19, 1922. He was a retired Scott County School Bus Driver, an Insurance Salesman, a member of Gano Baptist Church and a former member of the American Legion. Carl served in Patton’s Third Army during World War II, during that time he was at Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe. He was given citations and was decorated for the European, African and Middle Eastern Theaters.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his daughter; Kathy Surgeon of Frankfort, KY and a special granddaughter; Elizabeth Figg.
Funeral Services will be 11:30 Wed, June 23, 2010 at Tucker, Yocum & Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. Harry Hargis and Rev. Steve Gray officiating. Burial will be at Camp Nelson National Cemetery in Nicholasville, KY. Pallbearers will be Harry Laytart, Jerry King, Charles Bruin, Frank Figg, David King, Earl Wilson and Honorary bearers will be Larry Cloyd, Jim Bersot, Jim King, Bobby Laytart, David Simmons and the Deacons of Gano Baptist Church. Visitation will be Tues. June 22 from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
