Mrs. Corinne Butler Patterson, a lifelong resident of Georgetown, entered into Eternal Life on Saturday, July 3, 2010. She was born in Scott County on January 24, 1921, to Kaner and Ella Mae Banks Butler.
She confessed her hope in Christ at an early age and later became an active member of Wesley United Methodist Church. She was a member of United Methodist Women, a former member of Georgetown Homemakers, a former member and volunteer of the hospital auxiliary as well as a member of the Senior Citizen’s Board.
She was married to William “Billy” Patterson and to that union were born three sons. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two brothers, Kaner Butler, Sr., and Robert Butler. She leaves NOT to mourn her passing, but to celebrate her life her devoted and loving sister, Mrs. Lucille Shirley of Anderson, Indiana, her sons; James Lynden (Shirley) of Hampton, Virginia; William Richard (Estella) of Omaha, Nebraska, and Pastor Frederick Banks (Deloris) of Georgetown, Kentucky. She has 7 grandchildren, 13 great- grandchildren, 3 extended family grandchildren, 10 extended family great-grandchildren, 2 nieces, 1 nephew, and a host of other relatives and friends.
While our heart are filled with sorrow, we realize that this homecoming is the greatest experience of her life which was filled with wonderful experiences, as she was a worker with God; we thank God for allowing this family the privilege of having our Mother for 89 years.
Momma selected this poem for her family and friends: “God’s Way is Best- I do not know why sorrows come and burning teardrops fall I only know God still is God and watches over all… and so in faith, I must believe regardless of the test, no matter what each day brings God’s way is still the best. – The Family”
Funeral services are 11am Thursday, July 8, 2010 at First United Methodist Church in Georgetown, with Rev. Lyle Morton and Kenneth Cummins, Sr. officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-9pm Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at Tucker, Yocum, & Wilson Funeral Home.
