Edward H Lynch, 84, died Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at his home. His wife, Marian Paula James Lynch, of 59 years died Tuesday, July 6, 2010. He was born in Ashland, KY on October 26, 1925 to the late Henry B. and Mary Roman Lynch.
He was a member of Saint John Catholic Church and for many years responsible for its financial leadership. Mr. Lynch served in the Navy during World War II as Lieutenant JG and afterwards in the Navy Reserve. He participated in the Navy V-12 Program designed to supplement the force of commissioned officers, and preserve and utilize universities during the war. Mr. Lynch attended Berea College and Columbia University; he graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1948. He also attended the Jefferson School of Law. He was a member of Rotary Club for 55 years and Past President. He served on the Whitaker Bank Board of Directors as Emeritus Director and a Past Director. He served as a member of the Georgetown School Board. He also served on numerous charity boards as finance officer and volunteer. He began his CPA practice in Georgetown in 1956. He was an adjunct faculty member of Georgetown College for 18 years. He was member of the American Institute of CPAs and the Kentucky Society of CPAs. He commented that working with clients and others and the challenges of solving their problems made his job each day a great reward.
He is survived by his children: Edward (Missie) Lynch, Jr., Lexington, KY; Michael Lynch, Huntington, WV; Judy Wooley, Evening Shade, AR; Carolyn (Ron) Hall, Lexington, KY; Sean Cooper, Lexington, KY; Kevin Lynch, Columbus, OH. Grandchildren include: Susan (Brett) Perks, Greenwood, IN, Jacob Watson, Dayton, OH, Patrick Lynch, Memphis, TN, Francis Lynch, Memphis, TN; Colin Lynch, Lexington, KY, John Paul Hook, Evening Shade, AR, Cara Hall, Lexington, KY and Noah Hall, Lexington, KY. He was preceded in death by his sister, Kathryn Lynch, and his brother, Joseph Lynch. Special thanks are given to his care givers: Judy McDowell, Pat Wasson and Martha Wells, and Hospice of the Bluegrass.
Visitation will be Friday, July 16, 2010 from 4:30 – 8:00 at Saint John Catholic Church, 604 East Main Street, Georgetown, KY 40324. The funeral mass will be at Saint John Church on Saturday, July 17, 2010 at 10 AM. Pall bearers will be his grandsons. Honorary pall bearers will be the Directors and Officers of Whitaker Bank who are Jack Whitaker, Elmer Whitaker, Nancy Brown, Janet Holland, Bruce Lankford, Dr. Ben Lyon, Clay McKnight, Raymond Morrison, Albert Suffoletta, Lewis Wolfe, Jim Calloway, Mark Walls, Joe Arnold, Teresa Hoffman, Jackie Grant, Jackie Barron, Jayne Marshall, George Parker, Diana Hammons, Dianna Marshall, and Chris Willoughby. Other honorary pall bearers are Bill Bevins, Dr. Cary Blaydes, Gilbert Clifford, Daniel Duty, Brian England, John Fitch, Dr. L.C. James, Gordon Moss, Joe Mulholland, Dennis Neclerio, Leonard Pearson, Charles Perkins, Jack Reed, Dr. Jack Shepherd, Grover Shropshire, Don Sucher, Glenn Williams, Robert Ward and Walter Wilson. Tucker, Yocum & Wilson Funeral Home is responsible for arrangements. A reception will follow the funeral at Saint John Church.
