William Lister McGaughey, 88, Shelbyville, died Saturday, October 28, 2006 at Jewish Hospital Shelbyville. He was a native of Spencer County, KY and the son of the late Ezra and Icie Whitehouse McGaughey.
He was retired from General Electric Company, where he worked as a press operator on the washer line. He was also a farmer. He enjoyed working with horses and looking at old farm equipment. He liked to visit the Amish country and had an appreciation for their country life. He was a member of the Shelby Christian Church.
One daugher, Roberta McGaughey Howe; two sons, Lloyd Jefferson McGaughey and Leon McGaughey; two sisters, Christine McGaughey Cook and Annie Evelyn McGaughey Whitehouse; and one brother, Stanley McGaughey, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Alberta Lawrence McGaughey of Shelbyville; three daughters, Darleen (Gary) Jones and Kathie McGaughey, both of Shelbyville and Sharon (Wayne) Scrogham of Frankfort; two sons, Dale McGaughey of Mt. Washington and Lonnie (Jane) McGaughey of Mt. Eden; 25 grandchildren including Bertie Shea and Brian McGaughey, who they raised as their own and 38 great-grandchildren.
Rev. Don A. Waterfill will deliver the eulogy at the funeral service on Wednesday. He will be assisted by Bro. Kenneth Shouse. Serving as pallbearers will be Nickie Walker, Brent McGaughey, Junior Scrogham, Victor McGaughey, Jeffrey Meese, Danny Walker, Leon Ray Scrogham, Michael Howe and William Howe. Honorary pallbearers will be Mary Ann Crowe and P. J. Martin.
